The Puppy Cup is not just a fun event; it's a heartfelt celebration of pet adoption, community, and providing a soft cruelty-free alternative to the Melbourne Cup.
Last year’s event was a great success, raising vital awareness for pet adoption through the adorable Puppy Races and bringing together animal lovers from across the region to support pet adoption.
As we reflect on the event, we are excited to share the wonderful journeys of some of the dogs who were involved in the Puppy Cup. These pups have found their forever homes, and their stories serve as a reminder of the incredible impact adoption can have on both animals and families alike.

Let’s take a look at how the Puppy Cup participants are doing today:
Digby: A Match Made in Heaven
Digby, the winner of the Puppy Cup Rescue Dog Race, was adopted by a lovely couple in Newcastle, where he quickly found a best friend in Barney, another North Shore Dog Rescue alumni. The two are inseparable, spending their days playing together. Digby and Barney are thriving in their forever home, where they are loved and cherished by their new family.

Celine: Beach Days and New Friendships
Not long after participating in the Puppy Cup, Celine found her forever home on the Central Coast with a lovely lady who already had a Spoodle. Looking for a friend for her dog, she welcomed Celine into her family, and the two quickly became inseparable. Celine now enjoys beach days and spending time with her new sister and mum. It’s clear that Celine has found a home full of love and happiness.

Angus: Living His Best Life
Our gentle giant Angus found his perfect match with a wonderful mum on the Northern Beaches. Angus is now living his best life, enjoying long walks, making new doggy friends, and being spoiled by his mum. He’s truly the apple of her eye, and we couldn’t be happier for him. His story is a testament to the magic that happens when the right family meets the right dog.

Daisy: Daily Games of Fetch
Daisy, the beautiful black Labrador, had patiently waited for her chance at a forever home at the Moss Vale Shelter. After months of waiting, her perseverance paid off not long after Puppy Cup. Now Daisy enjoys daily walks and, of course, a good game of fetch — her favorite activity. A special thank you to Animal Rescue Sydney for assisting Daisy with finding her fur-ever home.

Leo: Showcasing the Unbreakable Bond
Leo, a formerly adopted dog, joined the race to showcase the loving bond between rescue dog and owner, encouraging more adoptions! His participation highlighted the joy and companionship that comes with giving a dog a second chance.

Luna Lou: Still Waiting for Her Forever Home
Sadly, not all of our Puppy Cup participants have found their forever homes just yet. Beautiful Luna Lou is still waiting for that special family to come along. In the meantime, she is thriving in her foster home, where she is loved and adored by her foster mum. We’re hopeful that Luna Lou’s perfect match is just around the corner, and we will continue to support her until she finds her forever home.

The Importance of the Puppy Cup: Raising Awareness for Pet Adoption
The Puppy Cup is more than just a fun and exciting event. It plays a crucial role in raising awareness about the importance of pet adoption and supporting organisations like North Shore Dog Rescue and Animal Rescue Sydney.
The Puppy Cup features fun and engaging activities such as the Rescue Dog Races, where attendees are invited to make a lighthearted 'bet' on which dog will find a home first. The event also includes insightful talks by Emma Hurst MP from the Animal Justice Party, shedding light on important animal welfare issues. Set in the beautiful, sophisticated ambiance of the Intercontinental Hotel Double Bay, guests enjoy live harp music, champagne, and canapés, all while supporting a great cause.
Adopting a pet not only gives that animal a second chance at life but also enriches the lives of the families who welcome them into their homes. We are so proud of the role the Puppy Cup plays in this journey and are grateful for the continued support from our community.
